Hi there,
If you read my About Me blurb, you are probably wondering how I, a fashion designer, found my way into the crunchy/fitness girl space…
(I know, I never thought I’d be here either. When I was child, I played soccer until one day I had enough physical activity. I told my dad I wanted to stay inside and color….) But here I am, and here’s how it all happened:
I stumbled into this wellness world only 1 year ago after constantly feeling puffy, bloated, anxious, etc. As a mainly WHF girl, I was on a mission to feel my best – since I was a WFH on the couch kind of girl. I was in desperate need of sunlight and movement.
So, I started there. I went for walks with my pup daily, and I bought a yoga mat and dumbbells from TJ Maxx. After several months I felt better.. but not as fantastically and magical as I hoped. So, I added diet into the mix. I tried tracking macros, eating 80/20, and following Whole30. It wasn't until after eating 100% whole foods for a month, I discovered sugar was the problem. The symptoms I felt after returning to a sugary, processed diet were WAY WORSE than before!
I felt incredible doing the Whole30 challenge, but it was unrealistic for ME. I quickly fell back into an 80/20ish diet and included the foods I loved: desserts and pizza.
Did you know there’s sugar in pizza dough and sauce???
But I still felt bad.. Go figure. That’s when I knew sugar betrayed me. Sugar is how I coped with my anxiety and traumatic events in my life. Even my small everyday stressors from work felt easier to manage with treats.
I know I’m not the only one who feels this way.
I bought real maple syrup from Costco and a bag of coconut sugar, and I just started experimenting with desserts and meals. I still work my 9-5, and still am no professional. I just wanted to start documenting what I am learning, because I know there are sweet teeth out there trying to find wholesome recipes that won’t leave you feeling terrible, BUT still satisfy!
I am fortunate to not have other dietary limitations or allergies. The recipes I am experimenting with will most likely have gluten and dairy (although I am open to testing ANY recipe).

Again, welcome to my sugar free-ish life!
